The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Committee, Lagos State Axis, has urged the Federal Ministry of Education to release the report of the Special Visitation Panel on the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Lagos.

The association said the delay was deepening the leadership crisis that had crippled the institution for months. NANS Lagos warned that students and staff were suffering from the ministry’s inaction.

In May, the group accused the college management of abandoning key academic duties and neglecting students’ welfare. During a campus visit in April, NANS reported broken facilities and worsening communication between students and the administration.

According to the group, the institution had been “running on autopilot” for over eight months since the former provost’s exit. It added that the absence of leadership had worsened infrastructure decay and disrupted academic activities.

In a Thursday statement signed by its chairman, Abdul-Raheem Abdul-Quadri, NANS expressed grave concern over the ministry’s continued silence. He said the panel, inaugurated on July 29 by Minister of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa, had completed its work in August but its report remained undisclosed.

“Over two months have passed, yet the panel’s report has not been released or implemented,” Abdul-Quadri said. He added that the prolonged delay had left the college without direction and effective management.

He also warned that the continued uncertainty could erode confidence in the ministry’s commitment to education reform. “The absence of leadership has paralyzed administration, disrupted learning, and endangered welfare,” he said.

Abdul-Quadri further appealed to the minister to act swiftly, stressing that the students could no longer endure bureaucratic bottlenecks. “Students must not suffer from political or administrative delays,” he insisted. “The minister must approve and implement the report’s recommendations to restore peace, accountability, and effective leadership.”

He reaffirmed NANS Lagos’ commitment to ensuring functional management across tertiary institutions. “Nigerian students will not stand by while campuses decay due to negligence. We will keep demanding accountability and reform,” he said.
