Muhammad Babangida Appointed Chairman of BOA

Muhammad Babangida, the son of former military President Ibrahim Babangida, has been appointed chairman of the recently reorganized Bank of Agriculture (BOA) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In addition to naming eight additional appointees as chairmen or heads of various federal agencies, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, made the announcement in a statement released on Friday.

Babangida, 53, holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in public relations and business communication from the European University in Montreux, Switzerland. In 2002, he also finished Harvard Business School’s Executive Program on Corporate Governance.

The President has also authorized the following other appointments:

The chairman of the Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA); Lydia Kalat Musa of Kaduna State.

The National Educational Research and Development Council’s (NERDC) chairman; Jamilu Wada Aliyu of Kano State.

The chairman of the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON); Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa of Kano State.

The chairman of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR); Sanusi Musa (SAN, Kano State).

The Director-General of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA); Prof. Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu of Sokoto State.

Director-General, Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations (NOTN); Sanusi Garba Rikiji (Zamfara State).

The Managing Director of the National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC); Mrs. Tomi Somefun from Oyo State.

Executive Director of the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC); Dr. Abdulmumini Mohammed Aminu-Zaria of Kaduna State.

The appointments are effective immediately, according to the statement.
