Osun East Senator Francis Fadahunsi has left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Fadahunsi, a second-term senator and ardent supporter of Governor Ademola Adeleke, is a powerful politician in Osun East, particularly in Ijesa land.
In a letter of resignation dated July 12, 2025, the senator cited the PDP’s national legal battles and irreconcilable differences following the 2023 general elections as the main reasons for his decision. The letter was addressed to the party chairman of Ward 4, Obokun local government area in Osun State.
Part of the letter says: “I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my Membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the National level after the 2023 general elections.
“This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends. It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith.”
