The governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has ordered the shutdown of Badeggi FM Radio, a private radio station, on charges of incitement.

The announcement was made by the governor during the All Progressive Congress’s (APC) extended caucus meeting, which took place on Friday night at Government House Minna.

By coincidence, Mallam Idris Malagi, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, was present at the meeting when the governor made the announcement.

Although Ibrahim Bologi, the governor’s chief press secretary, did not specifically mention the radio station’s unethical actions, he did suggest that the decision was made due of the station’s everyday immoral acts.

Additionally, Governor Bago demanded that the license be revoked and accused the station’s owner of inciting the populace against the government.

The governor gave the commissioners of police and homeland security instructions to carry out his directive right away.

Additionally, he urged the security personnel to investigate the radio station’s owner for encouraging violence in the state.
