Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has expressed his sadness over the passing of Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau, who died on Friday morning in Abuja at the age of 71 following a protracted illness. Governor Lawal expressed his personal sorrow at the Emir’s departure in a condolence message, stating that the late monarch was not just a revered traditional leader but also a source of knowledge and direction for the government.
The governor stated, ” I received with deep sadness the news of the passing of our father, His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau,” the governor said.
He sent his sympathies to the Gusau Emirate, the Zamfara State Council of Chiefs, the late Emir’s immediate and extended family, and the entire Zamfara State populace. “His Highness’s passing is a huge loss for the people of Zamfara, the North, and Nigeria as a whole. He was a supportive royal father and a leader who dedicated his life to the betterment of our state,” he said.
On March 16, 2015, Bello took the throne and became the 15th Emir of Gusau.
During his rule of ten years, the king gained widespread recognition for his steadfast faith, passion, and commitment. The late monarch was a seasoned public servant; first in the erstwhile Sokoto State and then in Zamfara, who attained the position of Permanent Secretary before becoming Emir.
“I have lost a confidant and a father whose wisdom guided me and other leaders in the state “May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus,” Lawal continued.
