Nollywood actress Nancy Isime has talked candidly about her challenging early career and the encouragement she received from singer Yemi Alade. In a recent Instagram picture of the two wearing identical attire, Isime talked about her difficulties as a 17-year-old model and usher in Lagos.
Nancy revealed that she frequently found herself stuck after working late shifts without a means of getting back to her family’s house in Ikorodu. When coworkers couldn’t accommodate her, the 33-year-old actress explained that she would occasionally sleep on rugs from event venues or makeshift beds made out of joined chairs.
“I’ve told this story before and I’m sure Yemi is probably rolling her eyes right now but Yemi, I meant it when I said I’ll tell this story every chance I get,” she wrote. “As I was saying. As a lot of you might already know, I started working at 17 and as an usher/model whose parents lived all the way in Ikorodu while most of her jobs were in town, it was difficult to go home most days when we closed too late for me to find a bus or bike to take me home.
