The Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle, who has won several awards, is commemorating thirty years in the business. The 58-year-old actress posted a contemplative remark titled “30+ truths from 30 years of experience” on Instagram on Wednesday, accompanied with a picture of herself.
She wrote, “Every script is an invitation to understand, feel, and become. Likes are not to be memorised, they are to be lived”
Ireti recounted her journey back to 1995, when she was hired for her first paid position, in the caption that went with it.
The veteran actress wrote, “My first paid acting job ever was in 1995. The role was ‘Shade’ in the soap opera Riddles & Hopes’produced by one of the most prolific producers/directors to come out of Jos city, the late great Matt Dadzie”
“30 years of making magic and creating memorable characters and moments. 3 solid decades… What a ride!”
Ireti was born in Ondo state on May 3, 1967, and before moving back to Nigeria, she lived in Boston, Massachusetts, for a portion of her early years. After graduating from the University of Jos with a diploma in mass communication, she went on to receive a degree in theater arts.
Ireti started her media career as a presenter and producer, launching the fashion and lifestyle program Oge with Iretiola, which lasted for ten years. She has served as the anchor for a number of television shows, such as Channels TV’s NIMASA This Week, STV’s Today, and Morning Ride.
After making her acting debut in All About Ere (1998) in the late 1990s, she went on to have successful roles in Sitanda (2006), Across the Niger (2009), and Torn (2013).
She became well-known for her performance as “Dr. Elizabeth” in the 2015 film Fifty, for which she was nominated for an Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) Best Actress in a Leading Role.
She has starred in important Nollywood productions, including The Wedding Party, The Arbitration, Merry Men, and Something Wicked. Ireti most recently starred as Inspector Babalola in Netflix’s To Kill a Monkey (2025).
Ireti has received several honors during her career, including the 2015 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) Best Supporting Actress title and AMAA awards for Sitanda and Across the Niger.
