The celebrated Nigerian director Kemi Adetiba has talked candidly about her continuous struggle with fibroids, stating that she could require a third operation to treat the ailment.
In the Instagram comment section of actress Ini Dima-Okojie’s post, the To Kill A Monkey producer discussed her situation. Ini wrote: “We NEED a cure for fibroids” while providing an update on her fight with the condition. I hope every woman dealing with it is hanging in there. Just know that you are not alone”.
In her response, Adetiba disclosed that she had previously had two operations, but they seemed to have failed, so she may need to have another one done.
She wrote, “I’ve had surgery twice for this already, and it now seems I might need a third. Sigh,”
In 2015, Adetiba initially talked about her battle with fibroids, calling it a “severe case” that once led her to the ER. She has continued to make major contributions to Nollywood in spite of the health issue, directing and producing successful movies including The Wedding Party,King of Boys, and her most recent endeavor, To Kill A Monkey.
Adetiba studied at the New York Film Academy after graduating with a law degree from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) before rising to prominence in the film industry.
Before becoming a well-known filmmaker, she started her career as a radio DJ, moved into television presenting, and even presented Maltina Dance All.
In April 2022, she married Ghanaian music producer Oscar Heman-Ackah.
