Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a “grand deception” on Friday. He claimed that many former Buhari allies who harmed Nigeria are now seeking safety in ADC ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking on Channels TV in Abuja, Baba-Ahmed argued that poor leadership selection continues to produce dishonest, self-serving politicians. He said electoral fraud fuels insecurity, corruption, and the breakdown of national institutions.

“Insecurity stems from electoral fraud. Corruption worsens due to flawed elections. Our youth and judiciary suffer because of the fraudulent system,” Baba-Ahmed said.

He also criticized former President Buhari, noting that Buhari served in the corrupt Sani Abacha government. Baba-Ahmed reminded viewers that some former Buhari officials now present themselves in ADC as reformers. He highlighted that funds linked to the Abacha regime remain under recovery in Nigeria.

“After placing high hopes in Buhari, Nigerians felt utterly let down. His administration ranks among the most dishonest in Nigerian history,” Baba-Ahmed stated. He recalled Buhari’s role as chairman of the now-defunct Petroleum Trust Fund during the Abacha era and described the government’s corruption.

Datti Baba-Ahmed said, “Those who came to power in 2015 were like wolves. Corruption restarted, and the system revolved around party and campaign contributions.”

He warned that ADC deceives Nigerians by harboring politicians who previously harmed the country. “They are deceiving us. ADC is a deception. Those who ruined Nigeria between 2015 and 2023 cannot now claim they want to fix it,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed reaffirmed his loyalty to Peter Obi and the Labour Party, stating, “I am a Peter Obi man, and I want him to contest again in 2027.”
