Celebrated Nigerian Diplomat Christopher Kolade Dies

Dr. Christopher Kolade, a celebrated Nigerian diplomat and broadcaster, has died at 92. His family confirmed his passing on Thursday, stating he died peacefully on October 8, 2025.

“We are thankful for his incredible life of faith and service, and are grateful for God’s abundant blessings,” the family said.

Born in Erin-Oke, Osun State, on December 28, 1932, Kolade was the son of an Anglican missionary. He studied at Government College, Ibadan, before continuing at Fourah Bay College, Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Kolade began his career in broadcasting and rose to become Director General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation. Later, he led Cadbury Nigeria Plc as Chairman and Chief Executive, earning recognition for his ethical leadership and business innovations.

He also served as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Kolade left a legacy of honesty, professionalism, and dedication to service that continues to inspire many.
