AMCON, Ali Baba Clash Over Victoria Island Home

Veteran comedian Ali Baba has been evicted from his Victoria Island home in Lagos. The Federal High Court issued a writ of possession on August 15, 2025, leading to his removal along with his business, XQZMOI TV.

Ali Baba bought the property in 2021 from the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) for N220 million. AMCON claimed the land was liquidated to recover debts owed by Harold Expansion Industries Nigeria Limited.

On July 31, 2025, Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa dismissed AMCON’s case, ruling that the agency failed to prove the alleged debt. The court fined AMCON N500 million and ordered the property’s return to its original owner.

However, Ali Baba was drawn into the dispute because he purchased the property during an active lawsuit, despite a preservation order. Before the eviction, he had lived there as a tenant under the original owner.
