Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have neutralised 24 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in a string of coordinated land and air offensives across Borno and parts of Adamawa State.

The operations, carried out between July 4 and 9, were supported by the Nigerian Air Force, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters. The joint efforts targeted insurgent hideouts in villages including Platari, Komala, Kawuri, Madarari, Leno Kura, Sabsawa, Ngoshe-Gava, Ngoshe-Ashigashiya, Amuda-Gava, Pambula, Tangalanga, Bula Marwa, Ngailda, Manjim, and Wulle.

According to a statement released by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, the operations aimed to degrade the operational capability of the terrorists, prevent attacks on civilians, and create a safer environment for socio-economic development.

In one ambush on July 4, troops intercepted Boko Haram fighters on bicycles moving from Sambisa Forest to the Timbuktu Triangle. The terrorists were subdued with heavy gunfire, resulting in three neutralisations and the recovery of motorcycles and logistics supplies.

Another ambush in Komala led to the death of one terrorist, with troops seizing supplies including pesticides and food items. A nighttime raid in Kawuri, Konduga LGA, resulted in two additional neutralisations and the recovery of logistics materials.

On July 5, troops intercepted insurgents attempting to breach the Madarari IDP Camp. One terrorist was killed, and several rounds of ammunition were recovered. Similar offensives in Leno Kura and Sabsawa saw multiple terrorists eliminated and their logistics networks disrupted.

Operations continued on July 6 and 7 in Gava, Ashigashiya, and Sabsawa, where more terrorists and their logistics couriers were neutralised. Recovered items included bicycles, torches, salt, and footwear.

A major clearance operation on July 8 in Bula Marwa; a known ISWAP/JAS stronghold, saw coordinated strikes with air support eliminate multiple insurgents and destroy camps. Similar successes were recorded in Pambula village in Adamawa State, where one terrorist was killed, and four motorcycles seized.

On July 9, troops backed by the CJTF raided enclaves in Tangalanga, Ngailda, Manjim, and Wulle, killing six more terrorists and recovering six AK-47 rifles, 47 magazines, and 90 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

Captain Kovangiya said the offensives underscore the Nigerian Army’s commitment to eradicating terrorism from the North-East. “The elimination of 24 insurgents, with the help of air support and local intelligence, highlights the effectiveness of collaborative counterterrorism strategies,” he said.

The Nigerian military reiterated its commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorist factions and restoring peace and normalcy across affected regions.
