Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has described the music industry as “full of darkness.” She shared her thoughts during an Instagram Live session.
The You 4 Me hitmaker said her faith in God has kept her grounded despite the darkness in the industry.
“This industry is filled with so much darkness. But I thank God I’ve kept my eyes on Him. I haven’t fallen,” she said.
Savage also spoke about her latest album, This One Is Personal. She revealed that many dismissed it for lacking big-name features.
Despite doubts, she embraced creating a vulnerable project without club records. She said she values genuine supporters more than millions of fans.
“When I released the tracklist, many asked why I didn’t feature American stars or A-listers. They assumed the album wouldn’t succeed,” she explained.
She added: “I don’t need millions of fans. I just need the right people.”
The project took over two years to complete. Savage said critics told her a vulnerable record wouldn’t work, but she pushed forward.
Earlier in January, Tiwa Savage had also described the music business as “full of dangerous sharks.”
