Singer Sean Kingston has received a sentence of three and a half years in prison as a result of his involvement in a $1 million luxury goods fraud scheme.

In March, Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson, and his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, were found guilty on four counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Last month, Turner was given a five-year prison sentence.

Prosecutors claimed Kingston took advantage of his fame to get expensive goods without paying for them, such as a 19-foot LED TV, a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, and expensive watches.

According to court documents, he deceived sellers with promises of social media promotion and produced forged wire transfer receipts..

Following Friday’s sentencing in a South Florida courtroom, U.S. District Judge David Leibowitz denied Kingston’s attorney’s request for a delayed surrender on the grounds of health concerns and ordered Kingston’s immediate remand.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Marc Anton, Kingston is a “thief and a conman,” having used his popularity to defraud victims over a number of years. Zeljka Bozanic, the defense lawyer, claimed that Kingston, who is now 35, had started paying back victims.

In May 2024, the singer and his mother were taken into custody after a SWAT raid on his Fort Lauderdale rental home.

Born in Florida and raised in Jamaica, Kingston became well-known at the age of 17 thanks to his 2007 hit song Beautiful Girls.
