Asisat Oshoala, the striker for the Super Falcons, has denied reports that she has retired from playing football for her country. The six-time African Player of the Year called the rumors untrue in an interview with media in Morocco following Nigeria’s thrilling 3-2 victory over the host country in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final.
“I don’t know where that came from but agenda must agend. I get it, but I’m not bothered. I’m still here. I’m still playing. I’m still doing my job. That’s what I’m focused on,” Oshoala stated.
The 30-year-old played a supporting role during the tournament and was part of Nigeria’s final 23-man roster.
