Nottingham Forest has fired manager Ange Postecoglou after an eight-game losing streak. The club announced the decision in a short statement shared on X and its official website.

The dismissal came after Forest’s 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, marking the end of Postecoglou’s short tenure.

Forest stated, “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect.

“The Club will make no further comment at this time.”

During Postecoglou’s tenure, Forest lost six matches, including a dramatic Carabao Cup defeat to Swansea City. In that game, Forest surrendered a 2-1 lead in stoppage time and lost 3-2. Hard-fought draws against Burnley in the Premier League and Real Betis in the Europa League were the team’s only positive results.

Two weeks ago, Postecoglou said early setbacks did not discourage him despite growing pressure. His comment followed a 3-2 Europa League loss to Midtjylland, continuing a disappointing run for the former Celtic and Tottenham boss. His reign at Forest lasted only 39 days.

In just four months, Premier League clubs have fired the Greek-Australian coach twice. Earlier in June, Tottenham Hotspur dismissed him only 16 days after he led the club to its first trophy in 17 years, winning the Europa League in Bilbao with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

After Nuno Espírito Santo resigned from Forest in September, the 60-year-old Postecoglou accepted the managerial position. However, his time at The City Ground ended after internal tensions and poor results.

As of now, the 2025-2026 Premier League season has reached eight matches, with Forest managing only one win, two draws, and five losses. With five points, the club currently sits 17th in the league table, narrowly above the relegation zone.
