Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided a new update on Cole Palmer’s injury, confirming that the midfielder will be sidelined for six more weeks.

Palmer, 23, has not played since he left the pitch during Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United on September 20. At the time, Enzo Maresca’s Cole Palmer injury update suggested the England star might return after the international break.

“I was wrong. Unfortunately, he needs to be out for probably six more weeks. So, yes, this is the update,” Maresca said.

The Italian manager assured fans that Palmer would not need surgery. “We try just to protect Cole as much as we can, and the most important thing is that when he comes back, he’s fully recovered,” he added.

Replacing Palmer has proven difficult for Chelsea. Maresca called the midfielder “one of the best Premier League players,” emphasizing his unique and irreplaceable role in the team.

“For sure, we need to find a different solution, we need to find different skills, because we don’t have another player like Cole,” he said. “Because Cole is unique.”

Chelsea will face Nottingham Forest on Saturday as they continue their Premier League campaign without their key playmaker.
