Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, has vowed to unleash biblical-style punishment on Yemen’s Huthi rebels after fresh missile attacks.

On Thursday, Katz posted on X that the Iran-backed militants would face the “10 plagues of Egypt.”

“The Huthis are firing missiles at Israel again. A plague of darkness, a plague of the firstborn; we will complete all 10 plagues,” he wrote.

His comments referenced the biblical disasters described in the Book of Exodus, where plagues forced Egypt’s pharaoh to free enslaved Israelites.

Earlier the same day, the Israeli army confirmed a missile fired from Yemen landed outside Israeli territory. The incident came just a day after Israeli forces intercepted two Huthi missiles.

The Huthis pledged to intensify attacks following Israeli air strikes last week that killed their prime minister and 11 other senior officials.

Since the Gaza war began in October 2023, the Huthis have launched repeated missile and drone strikes against Israel. They claim the actions are in solidarity with Palestinians.

In response, Israel has carried out several rounds of air raids in Yemen. Targets have included Huthi-controlled ports and the capital, Sanaa.

Tensions in the Middle East remain high as both sides escalate. International observers warn that continued strikes could further destabilize the region.
