FG Declares October 1 Holiday for 65th Independence

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, a public holiday to celebrate Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary.

Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made the announcement on behalf of the government. He congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on this milestone.

In a statement signed by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s permanent secretary, Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to preserve unity and patriotism. He stressed that resilience has kept the nation strong since 1960.

He also called on citizens to believe in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The agenda focuses on economic transformation, national rebirth, and shared prosperity.

The Minister expressed confidence that Nigeria will grow stronger in peace, prosperity, and development with the support of all Nigerians.

He wished the people of Nigeria a joyous and memorable Independence Day celebration in 2025.
