Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), a former governor of Lagos State, did not show up at his polling place on Saturday to cast his ballot for the chairmanship and councillorship election on behalf of his party.

During the election, which began at 8:00 a.m. and ended at 3:30 p.m., Fashola, who was supposed to be at the polling station with his wife, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, was not present.

Fashola was also not present at the local government election in 2021.

After hours of waiting, some journalists who had been waiting for the former Minister of Power, Works, and Housing since the unit’s election began at 8.19 a.m. left for other locations, while others remained until the very end in hopes of seeing him.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), voting for the positions of Chairman and Councillor began at 8:19 a.m. when INEC agents arrived to set up Polling Unit 002 at State Junior Grammar School (Special), Itolo Street, Eric Moore, Surulere.

Eligible voters began to arrive at the unit, where Fashola was supposed to cast his ballot. Despite having 1,355 registered voters, only 213 voters actually cast ballots in the unit.
