Nigerian Afrobeats icon Ayodeji “Wizkid” Balogun has stirred a global conversation with his appearance on American rapper Gunna’s new album The Last Wun, released Friday, August 8, 2025.

The 25-track project marks Gunna’s sixth studio album and final offering under YSL Records and 300 Entertainment. Featuring contributions from Offset, Burna Boy, Asake, and others, the album fuses trap, Afrobeats, R&B, and rap in a genre-blending showcase. Wizkid’s involvement, however, has split public opinion.

Fans on social media have praised the Nigerian star’s ability to transcend genres. “Wizkid is no longer a normal human, he’s now a god!!! Jesus, see music,” wrote one excited fan on X (formerly Twitter). Another user credited Wizkid with shaping their taste across multiple genres and artists, calling him “the Most Versatile, Successful & Greatest African/Afrobeats artist.”

However, not all reviews are glowing. A Reddit user bluntly ranked Wizkid’s performance as the “worst feature” on the album. Criticism also spilled onto X, where some felt Gunna made a misstep by including Wizkid.

Still, die-hard fans remain staunchly supportive. “Everyone keeps seeking Wizkid’s verse! Can your fav relate??” one user fired back, while others kept it playful, mocking his signature lyrical patterns with affection.

While official chart data is still pending, Gunna’s strong Billboard history; Wunna and DS4Ever debuting at No. 1, and A Gift & A Curse at No. 3, suggests The Last Wun is headed for a high placement. Wizkid’s global reach may also amplify streaming figures in Africa, the UK, and the Caribbean.

Whether praised or panned, Wizkid’s contribution has unquestionably become one of the album’s most talked-about features, further cementing his status as a global musical force.
