The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to developers who violate land use terms, declaring that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) will begin outright revocation of C of O where necessary.
Wike made this declaration during the inauguration of two high-powered committees tasked with investigating violations in land allocation and development, particularly in River Park Estate and other areas where commercial activity has encroached on residential land.
The minister condemned the practice of converting mass housing projects into commercial properties without due approval, describing it as a clear breach of the C of O Act. He directed both committees to conclude investigations within two weeks, warning against any external influence or interference.
According to Wike, the misuse of land, especially the unauthorized conversion of residential plots into commercial spaces, has distorted Abuja’s master plan. He emphasized that violators would face revocation of their C of O and urged the committees to recommend decisive actions to enforce compliance.
Wike also cautioned internal departments like AGIS and Development Control against shielding violators, stating that professional integrity would be strictly upheld in the enforcement process.
This latest directive signals the FCTA’s intensified efforts to restore order in the capital’s land administration and uphold the integrity of its urban development framework.
