The 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school applicants has been temporarily withdrawn by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) owing to technological concerns found during the result distribution process. Moyosola Adesina, the Acting Head of Public Affairs, said this in a statement released by the Council on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

The statement said that the decision came after an internal study that found flaws in a recently implemented paper serialization system meant to prevent exam misconduct.

The statement said, “As part of our efforts to curb examination malpractice, the Council embarked on an innovation already deployed by a national examination body. The paper serialization was carried out in Mathematics, English Language, Biology and Economics.

“However, an internal post result release procedure revealed some technical bugs in the results”

In order to quickly correct the problems found, WAEC announced that it had temporarily blocked access to the WASSCE (SC) 2025 results on the result checker portal.

According to the Council, the action was taken in keeping with its dedication to professionalism, impartiality, and best practices in evaluation.

The examination body said , “We extend our deep and sincere apologies to all affected candidates and the general public. We appreciate their patience and understanding as we work diligently to resolve this matter with transparency and urgency within the next twenty four hours”

It has been recommended that candidates who have already seen their findings do so again 24 hours following the release.

The Council urged the public to maintain faith in its honesty and service to Nigerian children, reaffirming its dedication to maintaining quality, fairness, and openness in all of its evaluation procedures.
