Benue State is set to witness a major industrial milestone as the Food Basket Brewery, valued between ₦10 billion and ₦15 billion, is scheduled for inauguration in October 2025.

This was disclosed by the Group Managing Director of the Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC), Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, during a press briefing in Makurdi on Thursday.

Asemakaha confirmed that the brewery, alongside Benfruit and Juice Factories, is nearing completion, with the delivery of 10 additional truckloads of machinery, totaling 26 out of the expected 50.

“We are introducing these businesses to help boost our economy and take our youths off the streets,” Asemakaha said, projecting that the three factories will collectively create at least 1,500 direct jobs across Benue State.

Upon full operation, the Food Basket Brewery alone is expected to generate between ₦400 million and ₦500 million monthly, injecting much-needed liquidity into the local economy.

Dr. Asemakaha emphasized the state’s industrial expansion strategy under Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration, which includes previously launched ventures like the table water, nails, polythene, and bakery factories. These existing businesses have reportedly created 580 direct and over 3,000 indirect jobs.

He noted that £5 million to £10 million was required to build a world-class brewery, a benchmark the company is confident of achieving.

“Benue is a significant player in the national brewery market. With these factories, we aim to retain a large chunk of that revenue locally to strengthen our economy,” he added.

Asemakaha praised Governor Alia for his support, reiterating BIPC’s commitment to the state’s industrialisation agenda and economic transformation.
