Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has reportedly verbally agreed to a three-year contract with Galatasaray, which includes an option to extend until 2029, ahead of a permanent move from Napoli.
This is a significant development in one of the most closely watched transfer sagas of the summer. Following a spectacular loan spell in the Turkish Super Lig last season, during which he scored 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances, Victor Osimhen has expressed his desire to stay in Istanbul, turning down approaches from Saudi Arabia, including a lucrative offer from Al-Hilal.
With an official bid that matches Osimhen’s €75 million release clause, the Turkish club is apparently confident of finalizing the transfer in the next few days. Galatasaray is willing to fulfill the stipulation, but they would rather pay in five installments, thus Napoli asked for bank guarantees before completing the transaction.
Even though Osimhen’s contract is about to expire, Napoli is adamant on receiving full payment up front.
Due to conflict with Conte, the 26-year-old Nigerian striker was cut from Napoli’s roster last summer, and a last-minute transfer to Saudi team Al-Ahli fell through. Then, as a stopgap measure, he went on loan to Galatasaray, a move that has worked well for the player and the team.
Despite the possibility of losing the striker for nothing in 2026, Napoli is clinging to the entire €75 million release clause. Galatasaray’s most recent offer currently satisfies Napoli’s requirements, and the Turkish champions are prepared to finalize the agreement in exchange for monetary assurances.
