Bernard Doro has been confirmed as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Senate approved his nomination after a screening that lasted less than 30 minutes.

Doro used the opportunity to share his plans for building an inclusive humanitarian ecosystem. He is the third ministerial nominee from Plateau State.

He pledged to create an impartial, independent, and inclusive humanitarian environment. During his speech, Doro told lawmakers:

“I will foster collaboration among security services to better target those impacted by crises. It’s never easy,” he said.

He believes technology can play a vital role in achieving this goal.

Senators expressed satisfaction with his qualifications and readiness to serve. After a brief Q&A, they asked him to bow and leave the chamber.

President Bola Tinubu appointed Doro last week. The nomination followed the resignation of Nentawe Yilwatda, a Plateau native and former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. Yilwatda now serves as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Born on 23 September 1969 in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State, Doro brings over 20 years of experience. He holds degrees in law and pharmacy, along with an MBA focused on IT-driven business strategy.

Bernard Doro has served in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Independent Prescriber. His work spans general practice, urgent care, walk-in centers, and hospitals.

Beyond medicine, Doro leads social impact initiatives and youth mentoring programs in Nigeria and the diaspora.
