The Ondo State Government has declared its unwavering commitment to eradicating cultism and other social vices, particularly among the youth.
In a strong appeal for collective responsibility, the government has called on parents, traditional rulers, community leaders, religious leaders, and civil society groups to join the fight against the growing scourge.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, the state reaffirmed its dedication to promoting the ‘Omoluabi’ values rooted in Yoruba tradition, emphasizing respect, hard work, value for life, and zero tolerance for criminality.
Ajanaku stated that the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa would not tolerate any form of criminal activity capable of damaging the state’s image or deterring development. He warned against cultism, political violence, kidnapping, and civil unrest, urging all stakeholders to reject such destabilizing behavior.
The commissioner also stressed that social vices pose a threat to investors’ confidence and economic growth, adding that every citizen must take ownership of security efforts by reporting crimes and being ambassadors of peace and order. “That is the way to build a safe, attractive, and economically vibrant Ondo State,” he concluded.
