According to reports, Manchester City and German sportswear behemoth Puma have inked a record-breaking kit deal worth £1 billion ($1.34 billion) over the course of the following ten years. The deal, which strengthens their current collaboration, is currently the Premier League’s most lucrative kit manufacturing contract ever.
The renewed agreement, which was first signed in 2019 at £65 million annually, is expected to raise that amount to £100 million annually until 2035. This is more than Manchester United’s 2023 deal with Adidas, which was worth £90 million annually.
With their commercial success, City is now on par with European powerhouses Real Madrid and Barcelona, who are said to have annual kit contracts worth over £100 million each.
“We joined forces with Puma with the ambition to challenge ourselves and go beyond expectations. We have achieved this and more over the last six seasons,” stated Ferran Soriano, CEO of City Football Group. “Puma have seamlessly integrated into our organisation, and we have enjoyed many historic moments together, engaging fans globally.”
Arthur Hoeld, the CEO of Puma, called the partnership “a great success both on and off the pitch,” pointing out that it complemented City’s dominance on the field and its expansion into international markets.
After a rare season without a trophy, the announcement comes at a pivotal time for the team.
In addition to losing the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace and losing to Al-Hilal in the round of 16 of the Club World Cup, City’s fourth-place finish in the Premier League under Pep Guardiola ended a run of four straight championship victories.
