Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced that the newly commissioned Oluremi Tinubu Industrial Leather Hub in Matori, Mushin, will earn Lagos State over N387.5 billion annually. He added that the facility will attract $250 million in export revenue once fully operational.
Sanwo-Olu described the hub as a key project for making Lagos West Africa’s leather logistics capital. He said Lagos will now transform hides and skins that once left unprocessed into world-class footwear, garments, and accessories proudly stamped, “Made in Lagos, Made in Nigeria.”
The governor emphasized the hub’s potential, estimating 10,000 jobs within three years, with 70% reserved for women and youth
Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, praised the state government for promoting industrialization, job creation, and economic empowerment. “This ultra-modern facility strengthens MSMEs, empowers artisans, and promotes local manufacturing,” she said.
She said Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda includes the hub to diversify Nigeria’s economy through industry, digitization, arts, and innovation.
Senator Tinubu encouraged artisans, entrepreneurs, and women to seize the opportunities provided by the hub, emphasizing self-reliance and excellence.
During her visit, she empowered 1,000 Lagos women with business equipment through the Renewed Hope Initiative programme.
“By providing these empowerment tools, we are planting seeds of enterprise, self-reliance, and long-term prosperity,” Senator Tinubu said.
