Ahead of the next elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission has declared that the 2025 nationwide Continuous Voter Registration exercise has begun. The Commission said on Friday through its X account that online pre-registration would begin on Monday, August 18, 2025, via its official website, cvr.inecnigeria.org.
Additionally, the Commission said that on Monday, August 25, 2025, in-person registration would open at all INEC Local Government Area offices and approved registration centers across the country. The exercise is scheduled to take place Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Those eligible Nigerians who have not yet registered were encouraged by INEC to do so. This exercise is for Nigerians who have attained voting age or those who were unable to register in previous exercises, according to the statement.
“Once the physical registration process starts, we encourage all eligible We encourage all eligible citizens to either begin the process online or visit our offices and designated centres once the physical registration begins.”
Additionally, voters were reminded by INEC that the CVR is not limited to new registrants. “The process also accommodates requests for transfer of registration, replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards and correction of personal information such as names and dates of birth,” the statement continued.
The Commission stated, “Our goal is to ensure every eligible Nigerian has the opportunity to exercise their civic right,” underscoring its dedication to holding a legitimate election process. “We are working to make the voter registration process accessible, transparent, and inclusive.”
