According to the most recent FIFA women’s world ranking, Nigeria’s Super Falcons have maintained their 36th-place ranking. FIFA’s official website published the most recent ranking yesterday.

The Super Falcons are still Africa’s best team, but Morocco, the runners-up in WAFCON 2024, are now third on the continent and 64th globally. South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, the former WAFCON champions, are currently ranked second in Africa and 54th overall. The Black Queens of Ghana, who placed third at the WAFCON, are now ranked 67th in the world.

The Super Falcons recently defeated hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final after rallying from a 2-0 deficit to win their tenth Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) championship.

With five straight victories, world champions Spain (1st) made an incredible run to the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 final and regained their top ranking, which they had held from December 2023 to June 2024.

As a result, the USA (2nd) have lost their position that they had held since August 2024. The USA is currently less than two points behind Spain, though, thanks to three convincing home victories in friendlies during this time.

Since the ranking’s June edition, the top 10 has been entirely rearranged, with France (6th) doing the best. Before losing to Germany in the quarterfinals of the European Championship, France had a perfect group stage.
