Ekiti Governor Oyebanji to Seek Re-Election in 2026

Ekiti Governor Biodun Oyebanji has publicly announced his plan to run for a second term on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform. At a meeting with APC Central Working Committee members on Monday at the party secretariat in Ado-Ekiti, Oyebanji made the announcement.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared that the Ekiti gubernatorial election will take place on June 20, 2026.

The governor mentioned the need to build on the achievements of his administration, keep providing high-quality government, and the immense support and encouragement he had received throughout the state. Oyebanji reaffirmed that he has kept all of his campaign pledges to the people of Ekiti and thanked the party leadership for their faith in his government.

The governor emphasized his dedication to internal democracy while pointing out that the APC in Ekiti is still “one big family.”

As senior statesmen and key party figures, he promised that his government will continue to treat them with the respect and dignity they merit. The governor gave the party leadership his word that his administration would make sure the APC continued to be a popular choice.

Th governor said that any party member who is interested in running for governor is welcome to do so. In order to exercise their civic rights, Oyebanji advised the people of Ekiti to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) before to the gubernatorial election.

Additionally, he expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his backing of Ekiti, claiming that the state has advanced more quickly because to the president’s economic policies.
