The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified Kayode Ojo, one of its governorship aspirants, ahead of the party’s Ekiti State primary scheduled for October 27.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) earlier fixed the Ekiti governorship election for July 20, 2026.
Duro Meseko, the APC’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, confirmed the development on Thursday while briefing reporters in Abuja.
He stated that Omolayo Oluremi and Governor Abiodun Oyebanji were the only candidates cleared to contest in the party’s primary.
Meseko did not specify the reason for Kayode Ojo’s disqualification, but party sources indicated that the decision followed a review by the APC National Working Committee (NWC).
The disqualification intensifies APC’s Ekiti race, pitting Oyebanji against Oluremi ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
