According to the Dangote Refinery, the ex-depot price of gasoline will now only be N820 per liter instead of N850. Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer for the company, said in a statement on Tuesday evening that the price change will be effective on August 12.

Mr Chiejina said, “Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the ex-depot (gantry) price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly referred to as petrol, by N30.00, from N850 to N820 per litre, effective from 12th August 2025.

“As part of our unwavering commitment to national development, Dangote Petroleum Refinery assures the public of a consistent and uninterrupted supply of petroleum products.

“In line with our dedication to operational excellence and sustainable energy solutions, Dangote Petroleum Refinery will commence the phased deployment of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks for fuel distribution across Nigeria, effective 15 August 2025,”

The cut is a component of the market’s reaction to recent changes in the price of crude oil around the world. As traders anticipated a drop in demand at the end of the summer driving season in early September, crude oil prices fell on Tuesday.

Despite changes in the price of crude oil around the world, the Dangote refinery reiterated in May its commitment to keeping petrol prices stable.

The Dangote refinery revealed a significant plan to change the fuel distribution system in Nigeria on June 15. According to the company, it will start supplying gasoline and diesel to manufacturers, telecom companies, marketers, gas dealers, and other major consumers nationwide on August 15.

Oil marketers are anticipated to follow suit by lowering their pump prices in response to the Dangote refinery’s price reduction, which could result in lower retail fuel costs for consumers.
