According to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), the new fees and penalties for document downloads on its updated registration portal will not go into effect until September 1. The CAC announced in a public notice issued in Abuja on Monday that the decision to postpone the rollout was made because of the transitional difficulties that users were facing on the portal.

Originally set to start on August 1, the enforcement affects fees for documents that are not downloaded within seven days of approval.

The commission enumerated a few issues that users had, such as trouble downloading documents, processing payments, filing business names after incorporation, and uploading specific necessary documents.

“We are working tirelessly, alongside our technical partners and stakeholders, to stabilise the system without shutting down the entire portal,” the commission stated. The date change, according to CAC, is a short-term solution meant to assist companies and guarantee a smooth user experience as they switch to its AI-powered platform.

According to the commission, the change was also made in response to input from stakeholders and consumers across the country. It said, ““We appreciate your patience and understanding”

In an effort to enhance service delivery and shorten turnaround times for business registration procedures, the CAC launched a new digital portal on June 30.
