Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has officially dissolved the State Executive Council, signaling a significant political reshuffle in the state government.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the Governor also announced the appointment of Moses Atagher, a former two-term Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, as the new Chief of Staff (CoS).
Atagher, described as a seasoned administrator and former Acting Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank, assumes office with immediate effect.
The announcement came at the conclusion of the 12th Executive Council meeting held in 2025. Governor Alia expressed gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their two years of service, encouraging those not reappointed to remain loyal to the party and support its growth.
“We are paving the way for other citizens to contribute to the development of Benue State,” the Governor said.
He clarified that only commissioners were affected by the dissolution, while other government structures remain intact.
Barr. Bemsen Mnyim, speaking on behalf of the outgoing cabinet members, thanked Governor Alia, describing their tenure as a valuable learning experience.
All affected commissioners are to hand over duties to their respective permanent secretaries.
The latest development is part of Governor Alia’s broader strategy to reorganize his administration for improved governance and delivery in Benue State.
