The National Assembly has introduced new security measures by restricting access to sensitive areas in the Senate chamber and hallways.

A memo dated October 2, 2025, reserved the corridor in front of the Senate President’s office for senators and House members only.

“All aides or personal assistants will not be allowed into the said corridor,” the circular stated.

The Sergeant-at-Arms explained that the action is part of efforts to ensure lawmakers perform their duties in a safe and secure environment.

The memo also instructed senators to inform their aides and staff about the new rule. Brigadier General Etido Ekpo (rtd), Senate Services Chairman, stressed the restriction ensures enhanced security around sensitive National Assembly areas.

He concluded the circular with his “humblest regards” to members.
