Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman has charged Atalanta BC of “blocking the opportunity” for him to leave the team. The 27-year-old stated on social media on Sunday that “enough is enough” and that he has formally submitted a transfer request to the team.

Lookman said that he and the club’s administration “were clear with me that if a fair offer came in, they would allow me to move” and that they had been “in agreement that now is the right time.”

The winger continued by saying that Atalanta has not complied with its agreement even if they received “an offer in alignment to what I believe had been discussed.”

The post read,

“As a result and after many months of broken promises and what I feel has been poor treatment towards me as both a human being and as a professional footballer, sadly I feel I have no choice but to speak out for what I believe is right and I feel that enough is enough,”

“I can confirm I have now handed in a formal transfer request.

“Even throughout the extremely difficult moments I’ve endured, many of which have remained private and confidential, I have always tried to put the club, the fans and the team first and hoped it would not get to this, but I unfortunately feel there is now little choice.”

Lookman removed every Atalanta-related post from his Instagram feed a few days ago. In addition, he removed the team’s name from his bio and unfollowed the team on Instagram. Lookman also deleted his profile photo and other images on the social media page that featured him wearing the team’s shirt.

This comes after the club turned down Inter Milan’s most recent attempt to buy the 27-year-old. Recently, Atalanta turned down Inter Milan’s €42 million plus €3 million add-ons for Lookman.

Despite reports that Lookman and Nerrazuri agreed on personal terms, the Bergamo club is adamant about paying its asking price of €60 million for the player.
