Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), in collaboration with the FBI and the U.S. Justice Department, has seized a 2019 Lamborghini Urus from Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale.

The seizure followed a 2023 request by U.S. authorities as part of a $4.7 million fraud investigation involving Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently serving an 86-month sentence in the United States for financial crimes.

In a statement, EOCO confirmed that the luxury vehicle was found during a lawful search at Trassaco Valley Phase 1, Accra, and linked to proceeds from Amuah’s criminal activities. The car was reportedly in Shatta Wale’s possession, and he voluntarily surrendered it to avoid public backlash.

“The Lamborghini has been tied to Amuah’s fraud enterprise, and efforts are underway to repatriate it to the U.S. as part of court-ordered restitution,” EOCO said.

The agency added that Shatta Wale and a former National Signal Bureau officer are being treated as persons of interest and will be invited for questioning.

Responding on Facebook, Shatta Wale criticized EOCO for bringing armed operatives to his residence, calling the move excessive and politically motivated.

The FBI is expected to file a formal Mutual Legal Assistance request to facilitate the vehicle’s transfer to the U.S. EOCO also stated that a final investigation report may be shared with U.S. authorities.
