Eric Chelle, head coach of the Super Eagles, has made two late changes to his 23-man squad for the upcoming Nigeria 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho.

The adjustments became necessary after injuries sidelined Cyriel Dessers and Bright Osayi-Samuel. Zaidu Sanusi replaces Osayi-Samuel, while Uche Christantus comes in for Dessers.

The Nigeria Football Federation released the initial squad list on Friday, confirming the changes ahead of the crucial qualifiers.

The Super Eagles will travel to face Lesotho on October 10 before returning home to host Benin Republic on October 14.

Chelle hopes the fresh additions will strengthen the team’s chances in the Nigeria 2026 World Cup qualifiers, especially after South Africa’s three-point deduction reignited Nigeria’s qualification hopes.

The coach remains optimistic about securing vital wins in the final two group matches.

“We know what’s at stake. The focus is on getting maximum points,” Chelle said.

Nigeria currently sits within striking distance of a qualification spot, and fans expect a strong finish from the Super Eagles.
