President Bola Tinubu condemned the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress, or ADC, yesterday, calling it a coalition of confusion. At the 14th meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC), where Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda was elected as the party’s new national chairman, Tinubu stated, “It’s not a bad idea to abandon a sinking ship and be absent from a coalition of confusion.”
Leading opposition leaders like Peter Obi of the Labour Party and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have lately sided with the ADC. The opposition quickly responded to the president’s remark.
The Coalition of United Political Parties, the ADC, the CUPP, and Mr. Paul Ibe, the former vice president Atiku Abubakar‘s media adviser, were among those who condemned him. At the meeting, which took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Tinubu urged APC governors to strengthen their dedication to security, development, and grassroots mobilization, emphasizing the necessity of leaving a legacy of progressive governance.
Despite the amount of money available to state governors, the President bemoaned the degree of hardship in rural communities and urged them to “wet the grass.”
“We should leave a legacy of development,” the president stated, adding that the party will have a suitable national secretariat in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). 23 governors are here to help identify land with the FCT Minister. We should form a committee of progressive governors to secure a suitable location for the new secretariat. I believe, without hesitation, the motion is carried.”
