The Kebbi State Police Command says its operatives have neutralized three suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group.

The suspects were reportedly terrorizing residents of Gorun Yamma village in Dandi Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, announced this in a statement released in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.

According to him, the operation followed credible intelligence that the gang had invaded the community late Friday night.

Immediately, Divisional Police Officer of Kamba Division, SP Mohammed Bello Lawal, mobilized police officers and vigilantes to the scene.

They engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle that lasted several hours before overpowering them.

Abubakar confirmed that three terrorists were neutralized, while others escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds.

Furthermore, he revealed that a red, unregistered Honda motorcycle, locally called “Boko Haram,” was recovered from the scene.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, praised the DPO and his team for their swift and courageous response.

He said their bravery prevented further attacks on villagers and maintained public safety.

The commissioner also urged security agencies to strengthen cooperation in tackling the Lakurawa group and other violent crimes.

He directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for proper investigation.

Sani reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

He also encouraged residents to report suspicious activities or movements to the nearest police station immediately.
