The Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, may give former President Goodluck Jonathan an automatic ticket to run for president in 2027, according to Daniel Woyengikuro, the party’s national financial secretary.
He emphasized that Jonathan would need to rejoin the party and take on a more active political role, though.
“Is he not the best candidate for us at this moment? He is not just a former president; he is the leader of the party now,”he said.
“Aside from former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the next person in line is him. Goodluck Jonathan is the national leader of this party.”
“That’s what I firmly stand for,” Woyengikuro said in response to a direct question about whether the PDP would contemplate giving Jonathan an automatic ticket. I want him to come, so you can quote me wherever.
“An automatic ticket for him, as it stands now. Because we must salvage both this party and the nation.”
