Senator Iyiola Omisore, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared his bid for the 2026 Osun governorship race.

He made the announcement on Saturday through his X handle, unveiling plans for his formal declaration. The event will hold on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Osun APC Secretariat in Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo. It is themed “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams,” and will begin at 10 a.m.

Omisore said his decision followed deep reflection and wide consultations with stakeholders across Osun State. He emphasized that his campaign would restore hope, strengthen governance, and rebuild the state’s future.

“This mission goes beyond me. It is a collective journey,” he said. “Join me as we take this bold step toward the Osun Rescue Mission 2026.”

Omisore, who served as Osun’s deputy governor, previously contested the 2014 governorship under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before joining the APC. His entry, according to analysts, may reshape the APC’s internal race as he remains one of the strongest aspirants ahead of 2026.
