Nwifuru Suspends 87 Ebonyi Officials Over Absence

Francis Nwifuru, the governor of Ebonyi State, has suspended 87 senior government officials for allegedly skipping a crucial state event. Twenty-five commissioners, fourteen senior special assistants, twenty-four special assistants, and twenty-two permanent secretaries are among the suspended officials.

Monday Uzor, the governor’s chief press secretary, made the announcement in a statement late Monday. The statement claims that the impacted officials have been ordered to go on a one-month unpaid work suspension. The officials are prohibited from signing any official papers while they are suspended, and the ban is effective immediately.

Additionally, the statement instructed the suspended commissioners to turn themselves in to their permanent secretaries. According to the announcement,

The statement reads,

“The governor of Ebonyi State Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has directed that the underlisted government functionaries proceed on one month working suspension without salary for failure to attend an important government function.”

Stanley Lebechi Mbam, Professor Leonard Uguru, Dr. Mathew Nwobashi, Professor Nwogo Obasi, Ikeuwa Omebe, Chief Sunday Inyima, and Stanley Ogbuewu are among the people included in the statement.
