According to L’Équipe, Real Madrid has insisted that Kylian Mbappé wear the team’s No. 10 shirt. Luka Modrić’s departure from the La Liga powerhouses this summer made the number available. Modrić signed a free agent contract with AC Milan.
Mbappé and Arda Güler, who performed well for Madrid at the Club World Cup, were reportedly vying for the No. 10 shirt. However, it is now known that Mbappé was not excited about parting with the No. 9 shirt he brought with him from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Frenchman will wear the No. 10 shirt starting in the upcoming season, though, according to Madrid’s management.
Kylian won the European Golden Boot and the Pichichi Trophy for his first season, scoring 44 goals in all competitions.
