Governor Nasir Idris has received a vote of confidence from some former members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, who praised his outstanding performance and people-focused leadership after barely two years in office. On Monday, the Association of Former Lawmakers paid the governor a courtesy call at Government House in Birnin Kebbi, where the endorsement was given.
According to the forum, which was chaired by Hassan Shalla, a former Speaker of the Assembly, the gesture was an expression of gratitude for the governor’s progress in advancing the state’s development. Shalla stated that Dr. Nasir Idris’s leadership has resulted in a noticeable change in the state capital.
He said ,“We are all living witnesses to your infrastructural strides. From road construction to health, education, and empowerment programmes, your projects have touched all sectors of the state’s economy,”
With hope that the education sector would undergo long-lasting reform and revitalization, he continued, the organization was pleased to see a “seasoned teacher and committed labor leader” in charge of Kebbi’s affairs.
Jafaru Mohammed, the former Deputy Speaker and representative of the Zuru constituency, formally proposed the vote of confidence, and Nafi’u Bagudo, a former representative of the Bagudo constituency, supported it.
The forum unanimously approved the motion. Idris responded by thanking the support and characterizing the endorsement as a boost to his administration’s morale.
The governor said, “I sincerely appreciate your visit and support. We will continue to run an inclusive government that listens to the people and delivers on its promises”
He urged the state’s former parliamentarians and all other interested parties to keep backing his government in the joint endeavor to advance Kebbi.
