John Nwosu has been named the African Democratic Congress’ (ADC) flagbearer for the governorship of Anambra, which is up for election on November 8th, and the August 16 by-election. During the Onitsha campaign launch, Nwosu pledged to eradicate insecurity, reduce taxes for small businesses and artisans, and restructure the state’s administration.

Chukwuma Soludo, the current governor, came under fire from him for his shortcomings in protection of traditional institutions, development, and security.

He said, “Governance is not rocket science, it is also not to try your luck or making bogus promises, if Soludo did not succeed in the first four years, he won’t succeed in another four years.

“We promise four years of seamless, transformative and adaptive governance along these lines”

IT specialist Nwosu presented a seven-pillar policy (Security, Health, Education, Economy, Enterprise, Market, and Social Welfare, or SHEEEMS) and promised to implement e-Government, implement AI-powered security systems, and lower taxes by 30% for barrow pushers, shuttle drivers, keke operators, and artisans.

Mr. Chidi Amamgbo (Anambra South Senatorial District) and Mrs. Justina Azuka (Onitsha 1 State Constituency) are two other candidates who have been announced.

Ralph Nwosu, the former chairman of the ADC, expressed confidence that the coalition, which consists of members from the PDP and Labour Party, would win.
