Professor Jerry Gana, a former minister of information and PDP Board of Trustees member, confirmed that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan will contest the 2027 presidential election on the PDP platform.

Speaking after the PDP congress in Minna, Niger State, Gana said Jonathan is ready to serve Nigeria again.

“I can confirm that Goodluck Jonathan will contest the presidential election in 2027 as a PDP candidate and you will vote for him to return as president again,” Gana told reporters.

He recalled Jonathan’s 2015 remark that his “ambition wasn’t worth Nigerian blood” and noted Nigerians now want him back. “The change is evident to Nigerians, who have witnessed it. Nigerians are now requesting that we bring former President Jonathan, our friend, back,” he said.

Gana stressed that the PDP remains a true grassroots party. “Nigerians love the PDP because it came with programmes that are people-oriented. That is why they remember PDP immensely and they are urging us to come back.”

Dismissing claims of a crisis, Jerry Gana said, “When there was a near crisis in the party, the founding fathers convened a consultative conference in Abuja and addressed all those issues at that time.” He also criticized the current government, accusing it of blocking foreign investors.

Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed Halidu won Niger State congress chairman with 1,289 votes, defeating Yahaya Abdullahi, who secured 1,269. Other elected officials include Hadi Kuta as state secretary and Salomi Ndakosu as Women Leader.
