The Anambra governorship election will take place on November 8, 2025, according to the Independent national electoral commission (INEC). The announcement complies with provisions of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended).
Mrs. Ugomma Lechukwu, INEC’s Public Relations Officer in Anambra, briefed newsmen in Awka on the commission’s official notice.
“The INEC notice of poll is in accordance with sections of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended). Notice is hereby given that November 8, 2025, is the date of the governorship election,” Lechukwu stated.
She explained that voting will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. Each voter must cast their ballot at the polling unit where they registered.
Lechukwu emphasized that only eligible voters whose names appear on the voter register and who possess valid voter cards will be allowed to vote.
INEC also confirmed that 16 candidates will contest in the Anambra governorship election, comprising 14 men and 2 women.
